5 Things you need to know for your lighting design!!

Lighting is everything in interiors. Good lighting can take a mediocre space and make it utterly spectacular and quite frankly I am a bit obsessed!

Key elements to consider when choosing your lights are:

1. Size and Location

Understand the width and height of the space and how long your lights will need to be? For example having low hanging lights over your bed may look great, but a little ahem "movement" may cause damage! Similarly consider head room in kitchen and island lights.

2. Ambience

The emission of light creates ambience, so decide if what you want, is bright and beautiful or dark and seductive!

3. Maintenance & Practicality

A really important consideration especially in areas like kitchens. Will it be easy to clean dirt and grease build up on your light fixtures? In certain designs such as the globe pendants a build up of grime will have a massive impact in the quality of light emitted.

4. Statement

Areas with high ceilings such as hallways can be brought to life with statement lighting, so these are areas where you can really go wild with the lighting design.

5. Don't forget the Walls!

Wall lighting can be easily forgotten with all the wonderful pendants on the market. But used well, wall lights can create a wonderful warm and inviting ambience. Used in addition to ceiling lights, you can also have a lot of fun with wall lighting. Neons are hot trend at the moment and can be customised to your requirements for a really fun and quirky accessory!
